Novartis Institute for Tropical Diseases (NITD) is dedicated to finding new medicines to treat neglected, infectious diseases. A small-molecule drug discovery research institute, NITD combines the drug-discovery expertise and cutting-edge technologies of Novartis to fight infectious tropical diseases.
NITD was set up as a public-private partnership between Novartis and the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) in 2002. Since then, it has grown to more than 100 researchers and supporting staff, with the following scope of activities: Target discovery, Screen development, Compound optimization, Preclinical development, Proof-of-concept clinical trials.
