GEMME – Générique, même médicament, was created in 2002 when 9 of the main laboratories in France joined to create an association to represent the industry of genereic drugs in light of several factors:
– Numerous measures were being taken regarding the development of generic drugs without consulting the key players
– Generic drugs represented an emerging market within the pharma industry
Today it comprises 11 companies, encompassing almost all the key players in generics
