Akshatha Achar
Akshatha Achar obtained her BA summa cum laude from Emory University in December 2019, where she pursued a double major in International Law, with a concentration in State and Society in the Middle East and Africa, and Music. During the course of her undergraduate career, she conducted research with Dr. Cherribi, Senior Lecturer in the Economics Department. Her dissertation was on “Ethnicity and Political Engagement in Europe”; the synthesis of this research focused on the novelties of populism, imagined communities, and political mobilization. Her research has been published in the Journal of International Affairs, The Journal of North African Studies, and Revue interdisciplinaire de sciences sociales. She is also a supporting author in Dr. Cherribi’s manuscript Muslim Politics Today in Morocco, Egypt, and Turkey: A Comparative Study.
Issues that she is deeply passionate, and conscientious about include social reform, global health, refugee law and policy, and international arbitration.
