Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly convened a meeting Monday to discuss preparations for the operational launch of the new National Cancer Institute in Sheikh Zayed City, known as “500500 Hospital.”
The high-profile meeting included Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Ayman Ashour, and other key figures from the medical and academic spheres.
Madbouly underscored the importance of 500500 Hospital’s scale, its collaborative approach with civil society, and its potential to significantly enhance Egypt’s healthcare system.

Eipico, a pharmaceutical company from Egypt, will build a $30 million biopharmaceutical manufacturing site in Saran, the Karaganda region, according to Kazakh Invest.
The new factory will produce biosimilars and antitumor drugs under international GMP standards. All these medicines are meant to be supplied to domestic and some neighboring markets. Once the project is implemented, 150 to 200 jobs will be created.

The high-level meeting, attended by key figures like the Health Minister, Central Bank Governor, and heads of relevant authorities, underscored the government’s top priority in ensuring timely access to essential medical resources.
Prime Minister Madbouly acknowledged existing drug shortages and stressed the need for immediate action to bolster reserves and achieve sustainable healthcare provision.

Following multiple demands from Egyptian society for increased investment in social issues, the government of Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has decided to increase its efforts in education and health. Egypt’s finance minister, Mohamed Maait, has announced the new programme, which will not only mean a large increase in the volume of investment, but also forms part of a long-term strategy that focuses on these two fields.

Egypt has effectively eliminated Hepatitis C, the third leading cause of death in the country.
The campaign, “Meet Milyon Sehha” or “100 Million Healthy Lives”, involved testing over 60 million people and treating more than 4.1 million patients.
This campaign was supported by US$250 million in financing from the World Bank, as a part of the US$530 million Transforming Egypt’s Health Systems project.
Health Ministry, EGAAD cooperate in medical tourism field in Egypt (Zawya)
Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population has inked a cooperation protocol with the Egyptian African Arab Company for Development (EGAAD) in the field of medical tourism, as per a statement by the ministry.
Under the protocol, both sides will cooperate to manage and operate healthcare facilities in Africa, in addition to opening new markets for medical tourism.
The protocol also covers sending medical staff to work at the hospitals affiliated with EGAAD in Africa as well as training the medical staff there.
